Before construction begins, the Byhalia Connection team develops a route that endeavors to limit the project’s impact to landowners, the community and the environment. Experts review multiple factors before recommending a route including the below items. A final route is selected following discussions with landowners, public officials, regulatory agencies and others.
We review:
• Homes, neighborhoods and developments
• Potential protected species and their habitats
• Prominent environmental features, such as wetlands and waterways
• Schools, colleges and universities, and recreational facilities
• Cultural and historic sites
Byhalia Connection is currently in the pre-construction and easement acquisition phase of the project. We’re targeting to start construction in 2021 and be in service approximately nine months later.
We work to protect endangered species and their habitats, often changing the pipeline route to accommodate species that are critical to the regions we serve. We do this because we know it’s possible to deliver energy and preserve the environment at the same time.

The Byhalia Connection pipeline will help strengthen the region’s economic vitality and energy security.
Pipelines deliver a lot more than energy. They fuel our modern way of life – every day.
Minimizing impact to the wildlife and environment is a big part of what we do. Get the facts.
Every community where we operate is different – but our commitment to being a good neighbor is constant.
